  • 12 oz Hungry Planet Italian Sausage™️ Crumble
  • 3 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 ½ teaspoons crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon fennel seeds
  • 12 oz pizza dough
  • 1 cup vegan parmesan
  • ½ cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 1 cup vegan mozzarella cheese
  • Flour for dusting
  • Water
  • * Please use whatever products you have in your kitchen; plant-based ingredients are just what we have in ours.


  • Step 1.

    Preheat fryer to 350°F.

  • Step 2.

    Heat up a nonstick skillet on medium heat. Add oil to the pan, and add Hungry Planet Italian Sausage™️ Crumble. Cook for about 6 minutes until browned and heated through.

  • Step 3.

    After the crumbles are cooked, add red pepper flakes, fennel seeds, basil and 1 Cup of marinara and cook for an additional 3 minutes. Set aside to cool.

  • Step 4.

    On a lightly floured surface, roll out pizza dough into a rectangle about ½ inch thick. After the dough is rolled out, take a large spoon (or 1 oz ice cream scoop) and portion the sausage mixture into 12, 1 oz scoops on one side of the dough. Place a teaspoon of mozzarella on top of each. Brush the outer edges of the pizza dough with water, and flip the other side over and fold over meatballs.

  • Step 5.

    After rolled out, press down around the meatball filling to seal the mixture inside of the dough. Cut each out with a round cookie cutter a little bigger than the size of the filling. After you have cut out all 12 stuffed dough balls, place one by one into the fryer and cook until golden brown.

  • Step 6.

    Once fried sprinkle a little salt and parmesan cheese on top and serve with remaining marinara sauce.
