Foodservice Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups canola oil
  • 2⅔ cups green pepper, chopped
  • 1 sweet onion (14 ounce), sliced
  • 1 pound 8 ounce Hungry Planet Italian Sausage™ Plant-Based GroundBuy Now
  • 4 tablespoons hot chili jam
  • 4 tablespoons vegan mayonnaise
  • 2 white hoagie rolls

Instructions:

  • Step 1.

    Heat half of the oil in a cast-iron pan over medium-high heat. Add onions and peppers and saute until beginning to caramelize, about 6 minutes. Remove the vegetables from the pan and set them aside.

  • Step 2.

    Form the Hungry Planet Italian Sausage™ into a flat, rectangular shape, about 1 inch thick. Add the rest of the oil to the pan. Sear the Hungry Planet Italian Sausage™ for 3 minutes on each side.

  • Step 3.

    Remove from cast iron pan and spread the chili jam on the Hungry Planet Italian Sausage™.

  • Step 4.

    Cut the hoagie and toast open side down in cast iron pan, about 30 seconds.

  • Step 5.

    When toasted, top with mayo, onions and peppers, and the chili jam Hungry Planet Italian Sausage™. Serve warm.
