Foodservice Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 6 ounce Hungry Planet Beef™ Plant-Based GroundBuy Now
  • 4 cups shredded potatoes, hashbrowns
  • ⅔ cup all-purpose flour
  • 6 tablespoons sliced green onion
  • 6 tablespoons unflavored, unsweetened soy milk
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2½ teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • Vegetable oil, for frying (canola, olive, or coconut all work well)

Instructions:

  • Step 1.

In a medium-sized bowl, mix together the grated potato, flour, green onion, milk, cornstarch, salt, baking powder, and black pepper (optional: add dill and vegan cheese). Mix well.

  • Step 2.

Add Hungry Planet Beef™ and mix lightly.

  • Step 3.

Add ¼ cup of oil to a large skillet, on medium-high heat. Next, scoop about ½ a cup of batter into the pan. Use a spatula or pancake flipper to flatten the patty to about ¼ inch thick. Fry until golden brown, flip, and fry the other side. Drain excess oil on a paper towel if necessary.

  • Step 4.

After all latkes have been fried, serve with your favorite vegan sour cream and applesauce.
